Meet Josiah

Josiah is a 22 month old boy who likes giving kisses and playing with toys and sensory balls.  He loves to make his family giggle while playing.  Josiah was born with an extremely rare gene mutation that has caused many challenges including swallowing, epilepsy, and the need for supplemental oxygen.  He is the first person in the world with his specific gene misspelling.  He is a true miracle, and it’s a joy to see him achieve new milestones daily.

The family approached the Love Fund for assistance with the cost of training a medical alert dog.  The family had already purchased a German Shepard named Jasmine and was working with IronHeart High Performance Working Dogs, LLC to train her.  Jasmine will alert the family of the onset of Josiah’s seizures so they can intervene with life saving medicine and ensure Josiah is safe.  She will also provide Josiah comfort and distraction during unpleasant medical procedures.  Jasmine is service dog compliant and will be able to be retrained to meet Josiah’s needs as he grows.

Jasmine and Josiah connected instantly, and she will be moving in with Josiah permanently in the next 30 days.  The Love Fund is excited to be part of Josiah and Jasmine’s story.  By contributing to Jasmine’s training, we support the family’s goal of keeping Josiah safe and healthy.

The future is bright for Josiah. His family wants to give every opportunity for him to grow and learn.
