Serenity Discovered the Wonder of Camp
Serenity is an 8 year old girl who is very social and loves making people laugh. During the summer her interaction with peers is limited because she is ineligible for summer school due to her medical needs. She loves being with friends and expressed a desire to have sleepovers during the summer. Her mother knew traditional sleepovers weren’t an option, so she began researching camp opportunities for Serenity.
She discovered a specialty camp in Rocky Mount, Missouri that looked perfect for Serenity. Wonderland Camp provides children, teenagers and adults with disabilities the opportunity to come to camp. With assistance from the Love Fund, Serenity was able to enjoy a full week at camp! She got to have sleepovers and make lifetime friendships with her cabinmates and counselors. Her favorite activity was swimming, but she also enjoyed helping prepare meals, tye dyeing her camp shirt and playing outside. Thank you Love Fund supporters for helping Serenity gain independence and feel empowered to try new things after her camp experience!
“For one whole week, Serenity got to go make friends and spend the night, and I am grateful.” ~ Alishia, Serenity’s mother
Come meet Serenity in person and learn more about her story at It’s in the Bag on November 4th.
