The Love Fund for Children has been standing in the gap for children in need for over 40 years.
Life Essentials Assistance Requests
The Love Fund works through certified youth advocates to ascertain and validate the need of each child. The Love Fund then reviews each request individually and supplies goods, services or vouchers to providers.
A few of the things the Love Fund provides include:
- Clothing and shoes
- Safety supplies
- Therapeutic items
- Beds, blankets and pillows
- Specialty medical equipment and services
Back To School Supply Drive
Getting a student back to school ready is a challenge for nearly every family, but it’s even more difficult for many Love Fund families. Facing poverty or the overwhelming expenses of caring for special needs children, the soaring cost of school supplies can often be prohibitive.
The Love Fund partners with the community to providing students with the necessities they need to start the school year off. In 2022 the Love Fund sent 6,000+ kids back to school with the supplies they need.
Thanksgiving
Every year The Love Fund partners with a local elementary school to celebrate Thanksgiving with 50+ youth who are facing extreme challenges. The Love Fund provides children an evening of food and fun where kids can just be kids. Each family leaves with food to help fill in the gap when school is not in session as well as a backpack of gifts and cold weather necessities.
Sack it for Santa
Holiday Gift Drive for Teens
It has been identified that disadvantaged teens (ages 12-18) are forgotten or left out during the holidays due to harsh life situations and few resources for older children. Each year, Sack It for Santa provides individualized gifts and covers basic needs families might not be able to afford. The Love Fund for Children partners with local companies, FOX4 viewers, and committed neighbors to fill gift bags for Santa. Each bag is then distributed to metro area teens through our network of youth advocates .
Shop with the Love Fund
The Love Fund partners with the Just Us League and Walmart to provide local children with transportation, dinner and a $100+ gift card to shop. Children are required to get some basic items like clothes or shoes, but are able to spend the remainder on special holiday gifts they otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to purchase. For many the highlight of the evening is a sack full of toys, some take pleasure in selecting holiday gifts for family members, and for others it’s getting to spend time with the heroes that make this event possible.
