Back to School Supply Drive

Getting a student “back to school ready” is a challenge, especially for many Love Fund families. Facing poverty or the overwhelming expenses of caring for special needs children, school supplies often falls to the bottom of necessity spending. With your help, The Love Fund will provide students in our community with the supplies they need to succeed.

To reach more children this year the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Love Fund for children have combined forces to host the largest drive in the city. Together our goal is to give away school supplies to over 5,000 K-5 students in the Kansas City area. In order to make this dream a reality we are appealing to businesses, membership organizations, sponsors and people like you!

So, how can you help?

  • Collect school supplies from now until August 4, 2019 with your friends, families and co-workers

  • Ask your company to run and internal giving campaign

  • Eat at any Johnny’s Tavern location on July 31st from 6:00pm - 9:00pm and 15% of the proceeds will support children!

All supplies will be distributed August 10th during the Back to School Bash at Silverstein Eye Center Arena's in Independence, MO. A list of requested school supplies is here.

The event will host a variety of vendors who will be providing free services and assistance to get all our families ” back to school ready!” Some vendors include the Jackson County Health Department who will be on-site administering immunizations to middle school and high school students. No payment will be accepted, just bring an insurance card. SafeKids Metro KC will be providing booster seats to families while supplies last and checking car seat installations. KC Stem Alliance, MINDDRIVE, and UrbanTech will all be present highlighting STEM programs available in the metro, and 99.7 the Point will be on site handing out Buble sparkling water and providing entertainment.
