Meet Haylee

Haylee is a three-year-old girl who enjoys playing with princesses, coloring pictures, and squishing slime. She is enjoying learning to write her name and can already label numbers, colors, and letters!

Haylee was born with a gene mutation that causes generalized weakness and decreased muscle tone.  She has recently mastered sitting upright for long periods of time, but she is currently unable to walk without maximum assistance.  Haylee’s therapist requested an Upsee Mobility Harness so that Haylee can stand upright assisted by an adult who uses the shared sandals attached to the harness.  Being upright improves her general muscle and bone health due to weight-bearing and movement.  It also improves her respiratory health by giving her lungs more room to function.  While using the harness, she also enjoys the social benefit of being at eye level with her peers.

Haylee’s parents can now use this fantastic therapeutic tool in their home and in the community at any time.  This summer Haylee will be found wearing the harness to play basketball with her brother and to cheer him on at his baseball games.  We can’t wait to see the amazing progress Haylee makes now that she’s mobile thanks to her new harness!

Haylee’s family has lots of plans to use the upsee harness at home and is very excited and grateful to have received this assistance from the Love Fund for Children. Thank you!

Before Haylee, I took the ability to walk for granted. Every day, Haylee sees people around her doing something that she physically can’t. The upsee harness gives her the ability to walk that she wouldn’t have otherwise. Not only is this amazing for her physical health, but it’s also so good for her emotional health.
