Talmage is sleeping safely and soundly!
Talmage is a very happy 10 year old boy who has Angelman Syndrome. He enjoys foods of all kinds, especially fruit. He loves listening to music and is a hard rock fan! He enjoys going on outings to the zoo and Royals games with his brother and sister.
Talmage cannot sleep in a typical bed because he will crawl out and injure himself. When his family applied to the Love Fund, he was sleeping on a mattress on the floor with a tent over the top. This was a safety concern because he would accidentally squeeze himself in between the mattress and the frame putting himself in a danger of suffocation.
In partnership with the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, the Love Fund was able to provide a Courtney Bed for Talmage. This FDA registered manual hospital bed prevents entrapment to keep Talmage safe. The mattress is custom made to fit firmly and precisely into the bed frame to eliminate burrowing and the sidewalls are heavy-weight canvas so that Talmage cannot fall out of bed.
Talmage’s mom reports that he loves the new bed! She is happy that he is no longer able to roll around on the ground and possibly get caught between the mattress and the bed. And he loves being able to see out the sides!
